So there is now no condemnation – (Romans 8:1)

Come, my soul, and reflect on this matter. After believing in Jesus, you are truly without guilt. Indeed, you have been freed from your prison. You are no longer bound by the chains of slavery. You have now been set free from the bondage of the law. You have also been liberated from sin and can move as a free person. You have been purchased by the blood of the Savior, and your debt has been cleared. Now, you have the right to approach the throne of your Father.

The flames of vengeance will no longer terrify you, nor will the flaming sword of justice, for justice cannot strike the innocent. You have been healed from your former infirmities. You were once unable to see your Father’s face, but now you can. You were unable to speak to Him, but now you can boldly draw near. You once feared the torment of hell, but you no longer need to, for how can the innocent be punished? Whoever believes in Him is not condemned and will not be punished.

Beyond all this, the privileges you would have enjoyed had you never sinned are now yours because you have been justified. All the blessings you would have received if you had perfectly kept the law are now yours—and even more—because Christ has kept them for you. All the love and acceptance you could have gained through perfect obedience to God are now yours, for Christ was perfectly obedient on your behalf. All His merits have been credited to your account. He, though rich, became poor for your sake, so that through His poverty, you might become rich.

Oh, how great is the debt of love and gratitude that you owe to your Savior!

“I am indebted to mercy alone, my Rabbi,

That I may be spared the horrors of the Law and God.

It can do nothing against me,

For the obedience and blood of my Savior

Have hidden all my sins from sight.”
